Become a Dance/Movement Therapist in Korea

The dance/movement therapy credential is awarded at the graduate level. KDTA approves programs that meet the requirements states in the KDTA Standards for Dance/Movement Therapy Programs. The KDTA and Dance/Movement Therapy Certification Board recognize Alternate Route to dance/ movement therapy registry and certification. The Alternate Route requires a maters degree (or higher) from an accredited institution of higher learning in combination with general training, specific dance/ movement therapy coursework, fieldwork and an internship. DMT credential is awarded after an examination of qualifications. Applicants who reach all qualifications are required to present case studies, 1 group practice respectively, and are awarded after passing a qualification screening.

There are two levels of credentialing for dance/movement therapists

RDT

The Registered-Dance/Movement Therapist (RDT) represents attainment of a basic level of competence, signifying both the first level of entry into the profession and the individual’s preparedness for Employment as a dance/movement therapist within a clinical and/or educational setting.

교육과정
Clinical Training Selecting One Out of Special Lecture, Monthly Meeting, Symposium, and Workshop by Association & Affiliated Organization
* In principle, it is compulsory to participate in international workshop. In case of not participating for two years, the registration is suspended.
Supervision
Over 50 hours Participating for total three times or more for 50 hours or more
(20 hours or more)
Two times or more for group

Six times or more for individual

ARDT

The Academy of Registered Dance/Movement Therapist (ARDT) credential can be obtained after the RDT is awarded, with additional requirements and experience. ARDT is the advanced level of dance/movement therapy practice, signifying both the second level of competence for the profession and the individual’s preparedness to provide training and supervision in dance/movement therapy, as well as engage in private practice.

교육과정
Clinical Training Supervision(10 points for one time), Thesis Conference & Book(100 points), Education(25 points for 36 hours), Workshop(20 points for one time)

Over 120 hours 200 points or more for 120 hours or more
